Approving and blocking publishers

How to approve and block publishers in Swaarm - on offer level,on advertiser level, and how to view the status history for any publisher on an offer.

Updated yesterday

Publishers need to be approved on an offer before they can send traffic to it, unless the offer's visibility is public. You can also block publishers at the offer level or across all of an advertiser's offers. This article covers both.

Approving a publisher on an offer

From the offer page

Useful when approving an offer for several publishers at once.

  1. Go to Offers → [Offer name] → Publishers tab

  2. Click + Add Publishers

  3. Search for and select the publisher(s) you want to approve

  4. Set Access Status to Approved

  5. Optionally set a publisher-specific payout, click budget, or conversion cap

  6. Click Add

The publisher will appear in the Publishers table with status Approved. They can now send traffic to the offer and will receive postbacks for approved conversions.

From the publisher page

Useful when approving a publisher across several offers at once.

  1. Go to Publishers → [Publisher name] → Offers tab

  2. Click + Add Offers

  3. Select the offer(s) to approve them on

  4. Set Access Status to Approved

  5. Click Add

In bulk - Push Tool

To approve multiple publishers across multiple offers at once, use the Push Tool. Go to Tools → Push Tool. See Push Tool →

Blocking a publisher on an offer

For private offers (approved publishers list)

  1. Go to Offers → [Offer name] → Publishers tab

  2. Select the publisher(s) using the checkboxes

  3. Click Update Publishers

  4. Set Access Status to Blocked

  5. Optionally add a Blocking Reason for internal reference

  6. Click Save

For public offers

Public offers are visible to all publishers so they don't appear in the approved list by default. To block a publisher on a public offer:

  1. Go to Offers → [Offer name] → Publishers tab

  2. Click + Add Publishers

  3. Search for and select the publisher(s) to block

  4. Set Access Status to Blocked

  5. Optionally add a Blocking Reason

  6. Click Add

To unblock, find the publisher in the Publishers tab and change their Access Status back to Approved.

Blocking a publisher at the advertiser level

Use this when a publisher should not run any offer from a specific advertiser — the block applies across all of that advertiser's offers, not just one.

  1. Go to Advertisers → [Advertiser name] → Blocked Publishers tab

  2. Click + Block Publishers

  3. Search for and select the publisher(s) to block

  4. Optionally add a Blocking Reason for internal reference

  5. Click Save

What happens when a publisher is blocked at the advertiser level:

  • All clicks from this publisher are discarded and not forwarded to the advertiser

  • The block applies across all of this advertiser's offers

To unblock, go to the Blocked Publishers tab on the Advertiser detail page and click the bin icon next to the publisher.

Viewing status history

On the offer's Publishers tab, click the Access Updated At timestamp next to any publisher to see the full history of their approval and blocking status changes - useful for auditing when and why a publisher was blocked or approved.
